Barbering Professional Standards Apprenticeship

Barbering Professional Standards Apprenticeship

Suitable for first time entrants to barbering from the age of 16 years old.

Here at Philips Hair Academy, we offer the brand-new Barbering Professional Standards Apprenticeship, which has become available from May 2017. The apprenticeship includes the City and Guilds Level 2 diploma for Barbering Professionals qualification, which is based on employer needs and is studied whilst working as an employed apprentice in a real work environment.

On this apprenticeship, you will learn the core knowledge and skills needed to become a competent Barber. There are six units to be completed, which are:

• Consultation
• Shampoo and Conditioning
• Cutting
• Colouring
• Styling
• Shaving Services

Whilst training one day per week at one of our hair academies, along with your employer’s commitment to provide in-salon training, our highly experienced and passionate team of educators will enable you to achieve the confidence to work as an effective team member in a commercial barbering environment.

After you have completed all the on-programme assessment requirements for your apprenticeship, including Maths and English, you will have arrived at the Gateway; the final element of the programme where you will be entered for your end-point assessment. Like an industry trade test; this assessment will test your knowledge and practical skills in a barbering environment and be examined by an impartial external assessor. If you are successful, you will be awarded a Pass or Distinction and have completed your apprenticeship starting you on your career path as a Barbering Professional.
