Hair Professional Standards ApprenticeshipSuitable for first time entrants to hairdressing from the age of 16 years old, or people who have previously studied a level 1 hairdressing qualification.
Here at Philips Hair Academy, we offer the brand-new Hair Professional Standards Apprenticeship, which became available from May 2017. The apprenticeship includes the City and Guilds Level 2 diploma for Hair Professionals qualification, which is based on employer needs and is studied whilst working as an employed apprentice in a real work environment.
On this apprenticeship, you will learn the core knowledge and skills needed to become a competent Hairdresser. There are five mandatory units to be completed, which are:
• Shampoo and Conditioning
Learners will also study a unit of their choice, which could be:
• Extension services
In addition to this, specific subjects are embedded into the course that must be evidenced; they are:
• Behaviours and Communication
• Professionalism and Values
• Safe Working Practices
Whilst training one day per week at one of our hair academies, along with your employer’s commitment to provide in-salon training, our highly experienced and passionate team of educators will enable you to achieve the confidence to work as an effective team member in a commercial salon environment.
After you have completed all the on-programme assessment requirements for your apprenticeship, including Maths and English, you will have arrived at the Gateway; the final element of the programme where you will be entered for your end-point assessment. Like an industry trade test; this assessment will test your knowledge and practical skills in a salon environment and be examined by an impartial external assessor. If you are successful, you will be awarded a Pass or Distinction and have completed your apprenticeship starting you on your career path as a Hair Professional.
